Jamie Foxx and a young lady named Vampire are in a crazy action scene that opens "Day Shift". The sequence then turns into a mad fight between the two. This kind of ragdoll physics makes the action scenes really pop. I think the movie does a better job than most action movies on Netflix or blockbusters. It's easy not to think about the old saying, "action speaks Louder than words". I believe that Day Shift is able to successfully use dialogue and action to help the plot and character growth. Jamie Foxx's character kills the vampire. He then has a funny, dry conversation with his partner about how he believed she would become a bat or other animal. Moments like these are what elevate "Day Shift," above similar movies.
Day Shift has the quality of a bad movie. It's obvious what they were trying but it was so disappointing. It's a poor production with mediocre acting and a stilted dialogue. The plot is also void of any real substance. However, it was still enjoyable. Maybe it's because it was vampire movies I love, or maybe it is because I just like bad movies. Day Shift was a fun movie. While it isn't a great movie, it's very entertaining. This is what I really want in a movie.
Day Shift was a very mixed movie. The movie has a lot to offer, including some action scenes that are fun and some characters like the two brothers and Seth. But the villain is horrible and there are many mediocre characters. That helps the stronger characters shine more. There were scenes missing that were not shown. Bud's neighbor acts like she is vampire movie a friend even though they only had about 3 minutes each before the final scene. Bud's prank phone calling at the gas station was the best moment of the movie. It was hilarious and I enjoyed watching it. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift is, in general, a mixed bag. Some parts are great, and some parts are terrible. However, if you want to have some fun, there are better movies than this one.
Snoop dogg was something I almost forgot to mention. He's amazing in Day Shift. The whole movie is worth it because of him. I mean, his character is hilarious, and he has some great lines. But he is also so natural in his role. He is a natural actor.
